Dog Tug Toy with Treats

Tug Toy that Holds Treats or Food

A dog who enjoys tugging will run faster and learn faster than one who does not. Why? Because tugging builds excitement and drive in a dog, and tugging can be a super powerful primary reinforcer (a reward that strengthens behaviors)

If you dog doesn't like tugging, you should and you MUST set that as a target for improvement if you want to have the highest level of fun with your dog.

The PetSafe Tug-A-Jug Meal Dispensing Toy shown here is a great way to help a dog learn to love tugging. You can put a delicious meal in the jar and demonstrate to the dog that by pulling on the rope, treats will be released. Then let the dog have at it! In a short while your dog will master tugging to extract his treats or even a full meal.

Magic Momo Superdog

Magic Momo Superdog was a shy dimwitted dog -- so though her human mommy. In dog agility practice events and lessons, she would run out of the agility field as soon as possible. But with Phil Seyer's small steps to perfection style training, she emerged as an agility champion, winning many blue ribbons at events such as the USDAA Biathlon.
